We are a UK-based business, that is committed to promoting a 24-hour approach to postural management through design, manufacture, and clinical service delivery of assistive technology. We are also dedicated to education and have trained over a thousand clinicians in Chailey Principles and equipment prescription.
For nearly 30 years we have specialised in postural management, setting benchmarks in the UK seating industry with all our designs derived from evidence-based research. Our product range includes orthogonal & dynamic seating, custom contoured seating and hybrid seating, lying supports and a range of accessories and other custom-made items. All our products are designed and manufactured in the UK.
Founded in 1991, Active Design has set the benchmark for seating with its CAPS II seating system. The CAPS II seating system is one of the few evidence-based systems on the market today, built on years of research and practice at Chailey Heritage Clinical Services. This research also included the development of the Chailey Lying support and Chailey stander.
Since then Active Design has become one of the most respected special seating manufacturers in the UK. With the successful introduction of new orthogonal seating systems, contoured systems and a range of accessories that are used and trusted across the UK.
Active Design prides itself on being able to offer any solution to meet a patient’s needs. We have invested extensively in machinery, tools and jigs to enable in-house manufacture of both standard and special items. Complimented by both in-house and external finishing including powder coating, chroming, anodising etc.
